Healthy Foods That Are High in Calories
 
     

Calories are the basic unit of energy found in all foods and are necessary to maintain the body's vital functions or Basal Metabolic Rate. When a person is looking to lose weight, healthy foods that are high in calories should be used in moderation. Many people believe because a food may be "healthy" that they can be consumed often, without regard to your calorie budget. Hidden calories can affect your weight loss goals and jeopardize your ultimate goal of reaching optimal health and wellness. Here are some foods that you may not realize are high in calories!!!

Fats and Oils- approx. 117 calories per tablespoon

Chocolate (Dark 70-85% Cacao)- approx. 167 calories per ounce

Nut Butters- (i.e. Almond Butter) - approx. 94 calories per tablespoon

Nuts and Seeds- approx. 200 calories per ounce

Avocados-approx. 365 calories per avocado

Dried Fruit- approx. 224 calories per half cup

Quinoa- approx. 222 calories per cup (cooked)

Bulgar-approx. 151 calories per cup (cooked)

Wild Rice- approx.161 calories per cup (cooked)
