Healthy Food Options at the Airport

Thanksgiving is approaching and that means plenty of you are off to the airport to visit family and friends. The healthiest eating in the airport starts at home with pre-assembled snacks. Packing healthy snacks is especially important while traveling, because healthy options can be limited and temptations are everywhere. Now that airport security is so tight we must rely on what the airports can provide us with. There are so many unhealthy food choices when we travel. Here is a list of some healthier options:

Starbucks Perfect Oatmeal

Starbucks Whole Grain Western Omelet Wrap

McDonald's Premium Bacon Ranch Salad with Grilled Chicken

Au Bon Pain Garden Vegetable Soup

Starbucks Multigrain Bagel

Dunkin' Donuts Egg White Veggie Flatbread

Chili's "guiltless" salmon with sides of black beans and steamed vegetables

Panda Express mixed Veggies and Steamed Rice

Hudson News -Luna Bars, Special K Bars, Any Organic Bars, Wheat thins, Almonds

Wolfgang Puck Express Chinois Chicken Salad

Cosi Mediterranean Shrimp Salad

Subway- 6 in Sub on whole grain bun

These are just a few ideas. There are also many places where you can get fresh fruit, sandwiches on whole grain bread, yogurt parfaits with fresh fruit, hummus and chips and protein bars. Most importantly, since you cannot take beverages through security, buy two bottles of water per person in order to stay hydrated on your journey.
