How to Stay Healthy at the Beach this Memorial Day!!!!

Happy Memorial Day to All!!! Many of you may finally be hitting the beach and are ready to pack your first beach picnic of the year. We all know what not to eat to keep us beach body ready. Here are some extra tips to avoid the pitfalls of that first beach picnic and have a healthy great day.

Start with a great insulated cooler- big enough for plenty of ice, food and water.

Bring some large frozen water bottles and at least two smaller bottles per person and keep refilling from the larger ones.

Instead of mushy sandwiches, use whole wheat pita pockets or try lettuce wraps instead of any bread at all.

Use healthy lean cuts of meat and keep tomatoes on the side in containers.

Keep any condiments like mustard, lite mayo, lite dressings, in Tupperware to avoid spillage.

For dipping veggies, consider hummus, bean dip, guacamole - the trick here is to avoid anything cream based.

Toss together a melon medley, by including watermelon, honey dew, and cantaloupe for a sweet snack with no fat and minimal calories.

Pack lots of 100 calorie snacks and individually bagged snacks like, whole wheat pretzels, low-fat granola bars, and single-serving bags of soy crisps, baked chips and lite popcorn.

Most importantly, use sunscreen, keep hydrated, and be safe and smart!!!

Swimming at a moderate pace for a half-hour will burn around 200 calories!!!!!
