CCS will raise energy costs
Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is intended to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, but the process is predicted by the U.S. Department of Energy to increase the cost of electricity by up to 80 percent.
Under proposed EPA rules, new coal-fired generating plants would be required to have CCS technology. Also, some officials within the EPA are promoting CCS installations on existing coal plants. CHELCO is providing this information to encourage members to conduct their own research. Then, they may wish to contact the EPA online through Action.coop to express their views.

Lighting the way Please report non-working streetlights at www.chelco.com (there is a link on the left-hand side of the homepage), or call 850-892-5069, ext. 198, 24-hours-a-day and leave a message. Messages are checked on weekdays, and repairs are scheduled. If possible, please include the street light number, which is on the pole. If you are using a smart phone at the light location, go to chelco.com/lights and report the problem. The phone will then send the light location to CHELCO.
