Designated work zone protects crews, as well as the public
Curiosity often leads CHELCO members or others in the public to watch what crews may be doing. Whether a line technician is working at the top of a pole or at the bottom of a hole, people want to see what is going on.
The problem is, a work zone isn't safe for the untrained. CHELCO Safety Officer Stanley Donald says crews always established a work zone in the past, but new work zone safety signs go one step further in defining the work zone. In addition, the employee or employees performing the work will warn property owners or others to stay away for safety's sake. If someone unauthorized enters the work zone, all work will stop until the area is safe.
