Malware Attacks Websites!
Something interesting happened to one of my client's websites! When typing in the URL a big RED Flag appeared and gave a warning - "Do Not Enter"
Let me tell you, this was totally baffling! So, a little investigation started - and guess what? Malware coding was embedded in this sites files!
Like what????? How the heck did that happen?
After walking thru the steps of making sure that everyone's computers were clean (including mine) I turned to our hosting agent - they did a scan and found the culprit and removed it!
So, this was good - we were both happy campers! However, Today, the SOS distress signals were coming fast and furious! It's Backkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!
Naturally, I was out running errands, but I assured my guy that I would look into this when I got home. Sure enough I was getting the big red warning as well!
Got back into the forums to look this up and back online with the hosting agency - and we went thru several steps to make sure that the server that the site resided on was indeed clean and then we made sure that the site itself was clean -
But this is what I want you to know:
- For each and everyone of you, I went in and I installed a Plugin (WordPress App) that will scan the site daily for any malware, if any is detected - It would place those files in quarantine!
- The app's name: "Securi Scanner"
- I updated all of your websites with the latest software - whether it was a Theme and or Plugin, all software including the WordPress software needs to be updated!
- In some cases I changed the passwords - for added protection - I made sure that I emailed or texted you personally with your new password - I did not do this to everyone.
- I have submitted your individual websites to Google to review & verify - since all the sites are absolutely squeaky clean - I want Google to Verify these sights - to further ad authenticity to your individual sites.
If anything new pops up I will let you all know - but each of you has a WordPress website - and a few of you are maintaining your own sites. But I wanted you to know this latest info - please do not hesitate to let me know if something isn't working right - I do my very best to stay on top of things, but sometimes, things just slip right on thru - I do not visit each and every sight daily - or weekly.
