Dear Friend,
The Heart of Texas Foundation is set to begin a new calendar year with a completely "full house" at our Southwestern Seminary at Darrington penitentiary. Our donors and friends like you, have provided the "private funding" that is essential to keeping the doors open in this facility. We need your help to begin 2015 on solid financial ground.
You will remember that we are now entering our fourth calendar year of providing the "private funding" to operate the Darrington Seminary. For the first time this year we have FOUR FULL CLASSES OF SEMINARY STUDENTS. In 2011 we began the Seminary with just ONE class of students. Now, four years later, we have FOUR full classes of students. Isn't that what a real four-year Seminary Bible College has, anyway? So we can graduate a class every 52 weeks, just like in the free world? And then send our graduates out to other prisons to continue serving their extremely long (and life) sentences? Yes, and with your sustaining help, we will do it!
We now have in the Southwestern Seminary at Darrington:
- a full class of Freshmen in school five days a week with their own professors
- a full class of Sophomores in school five days a week with their own professors
- a full class of Juniors in school five days a week with their own professors
- a full class of Seniors in school five days a week with their own professors.
God has richly blessed us with the work! Now we need regular "sustaining contributors" to join us and help fund the work of our Foundation for 2015. Please consider making a year-end gift to help us grow a new culture in our Texas prisons, using the graduates of our Darrington Seminary as "Field Ministers" in all the Texas prisons!

Their Seminary is now in its 19th year, and the prison has become what many consider the safest prison in the world.) Baylor University's Dr. Byron Johnson in his book, More God, Less Crime, makes it very clear that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is perhaps the most powerful tool for transforming prisons. For many of us, it has transformed our own lives, as well.
Of course, your gift guarantees that every class of Seminary students at Darrington is introduced to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For four consecutive years!
