On Saturday 21 May, Scouts from Troop 27 did a backpacking demonstration at Bass Pro Shops where they showed and demonstrated several items that they would have in their packs.

Featured Potential Conservation Eagle Project of the Month

District Recognition Dinner
During the Siouan Rivers District Dinner on Thursday 26 May the district recognized all of its outstanding leaders who help make Scouting go. Two special recognitions were:
District Award of Merit: To Mr. Mark Drumheller for his outstanding service on the unit and district level
2nd Annual Eric V. Henderson Memorial Scholarship: A $1,000 scholarship presented to a graduating Eagle Scout of the Franklin area that will be attending college in the fall was presented to Arthur Johnson who will be attending the Virginia Military Institute to study Engineering and Computer Science.

The Muscarelle Museum of Art at William & Mary currently has an exhibit featuring nine of Norman Rockwell's Scouting Paintings. The exhibition will run from 6 FEB to 21 AUG.
