Scout Shop

MON-FRI:  11:00 am until 6:00 pm
SAT:  11:00 am until 3:00 pm
SUN:  Closed

Hello fellow scouters,
The shop will be in the process of preparing for the move to our new location at 11834 Canon Blvd. Ste. L in Newport News over the next few weeks; however, my goal is to assist you as much as I can and help you prepare so there will be as little disruption as possible for your units.  My last order to be placed in the old location will be on March 14 with an expected arrival date around March 18.  UNIT LEADERS, please advise your advancement chairs to get with me ASAP and ensure that they are aware of that date to ensure a timely delivery of awards.  We will also have new hours at the new location.  The new hours will be Monday thru Friday 10am to 6pm and Saturdays from 10am to 2pm.  We hope this helps give you some flexibility by adding an extra hour to our shop hours.
Also, SCOUTMASTERS, please be aware that there is a new Eagle Scout Project Workbook available online.  The link to that workbook is HERE.  I am still seeing a lot of proposals coming in using the old workbooks and I have been informed that the old version will NO LONGER BE ACCEPTED as a proposal.  Please advise your scouts accordingly to prevent a redo of their proposal.  The new version has our Chief Scout Executive Michael B. Surbaugh.
If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to contact me directly:  757-595-3356 ex226.
                        Yours in Scouting,
                        Jennifer McPeters

One City Marathon
The City of Newport News is looking for volunteers for the 2016 ONE CITY MARATHON.  The event is on March 13, 2016.  Units are encouraged to help where they can as well as show their BSA pride - Staff at a water station or a relay point, bring your troop colors and show the BSA is an active part of our community.

One important note is that currently we do not have group registrations.  Each volunteer will have to register separately and comment on their form any group affiliation.  Some stations have age requirements

Also, one of our own, Tommy Wilkinson, is the Safety and Operations Section Chief for the Marathon and he is in need of 200 responsible volunteers (18+ years old).  This is one of the hardest, longest, and sometimes very boring, but is critical for the safety of the nearly 4,000 participants.

To register as a volunteer Click Here
