Fellow Scouters,
It's Crossover Time!!! Congratulations to all the Cub Scouts and their families on a job well done and we're excited to have you now in the upper ranks of Scouting!! Leaders, I have plenty of epaulets, neckerchiefs, slides, shirts, and handbooks on hand to assist with the crossing. Please let me know ASAP if there will be other needs. Not all of my units stress wearing the green pants, so I will have those on hand just not in large quantities.
Cub Scout Leaders, PLEASE remember to reach out to the Order of the Arrow chapters to assist with Crossovers. I can't stress how awesome this was at my son's crossing. The OA does a great job and I would love to see them at every ceremony, if possible. Reach out at Roundtables or to me at the Shop if you have more questions.
Boy Scout Leaders, please reach out to me and let me know when your Courts of Honor are held (the month, please) and where you plan on attending Summer Camp. I would like to be able to reach out to the camps to find out what Merit Badges they will be offering. I will have the basic swimming, wood carving, leatherworking, etc on hand in large quantities. This will help me BE PREPARED, so please try your best to get this information to me as soon as possible.
Email me your info at jennifer.mcpeters@scouting.org. Thank you again for all that you do for our boys and for Scouting. I appreciate each and every one of you very, very much!
Yours in Scouting,
Jennifer McPeters

Service Opportunities
Scout Pollinator Garden Challenge
The Scout Pollinator Garden Challenge is sponsored by the North Carolina Arboretum. Learn how you can volunteer or plan a project to help save our pollinators!
One City Marathon
The City of Newport News is looking for volunteers for the 2016 ONE CITY MARATHON. The event is on March 13, 2016. Units are encouraged to help where they can as well as show their BSA pride - Staff at a water station or a relay point, bring your troop colors and show the BSA is an active part of our community.
One important note is that currently we do not have group registrations. Each volunteer will have to register separately and comment on their form any group affiliation. Some stations have age requirements
Also, one of our own, Tommy Wilkinson, is the Safety and Operations Section Chief for the Marathon and he is in need of 200 responsible volunteers (18+ years old). This is one of the hardest, longest, and sometimes very boring, but is critical for the safety of the nearly 4,000 participants.
