Clarification
Some of you may have seen an article released by the Daily Press last weekend about the Council.  As a clarification, once the details are finalized the Council Service Center and Scout Shop will be moving to a new location, it is NOT closing.  Once everything is set we will send out the details of the new location and when we will move into it; providing all units ample notice to pick up any necessary items prior to the transition.

To minimize a delay and prevent a disruption in mail service, the Council has set up a PO Box:
PO Box 12144 Newport News, VA 23612

Service Opportunities
One City Marathon
The City of Newport News is looking for volunteers for the 2016 ONE CITY MARATHON.  The event is on March 13, 2016.  Units are encouraged to help where they can as well as show their BSA pride - Staff at a water station or a relay point, bring your troop colors and show the BSA is an active part of our community.

One important note is that currently we do not have group registrations.  Each volunteer will have to register separately and comment on their form any group affiliation.  Some stations have age requirements

Also, one of our own, Tommy Wilkinson, is the Safety and Operations Section Chief for the Marathon and he is in need of 200 responsible volunteers (18+ years old).  This is one of the hardest, longest, and sometimes very boring, but is critical for the safety of the nearly 4,000 participants.

To register as a volunteer Click Here
