Colonial Trail District Cub Scout Roundatable
We would like to invite you to the monthly Colonial Trail District Cub Scout Roundtable. A Cub Scout roundtable is a form of commissioner service and supplemental training for volunteers at the unit level. The objectives of the roundtable are to provide leaders with program ideas, information on policy and events, and training opportunities. The roundtable is a forum for sharing experiences and enjoying fun and fellowship with other Scout leaders. The roundtable experience will inspire, motivate, and enable all types of unit leaders to provide a stronger program for their Cub Scouts. Come join us every second Wednesday of the month at 7:30 pm at Oakland Christian United Church of Christ located at 5641 Godwin Boulevard in Suffolk, VA. We'll see you there! Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioner: Eric Landreth (eclclandreth@gmail.com).

District Merger and Name the District Contest
The Colonial Virginia Council, along with the leadership of the Heritage and James River District, has made the decision to merge the two districts. Time: 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Location: Christopher Newport University
Once again this year I'm seeking your assistance to disseminate and post the attached invite from Congressmen Rob Wittman, Bobby Scott, and Scott Rigell to their Service Academy Day 2015, May 2, 2015, 9-11:30 am, at Christopher Newport University, the Gaines Theater in the Freeman Center, Newport News, VA. The event will be hosted by Representatives Wittman (VA District 1), Rigell (VA District 2) and Scott (VA District 3). The target audience is high school and middle school students, parents and guidance counselors seeking information and opportunities about the service academies. All of the service academies offer a cost-free education valued at more than $415,000. The student will earn a Bachelor of Science degree in their choice of more than 30 majors. The event is strictly informative and set-up to answer students, parents & school counselor's questions regarding preparation and qualifications required to be eligible to compete for a selective service academy nomination. There will also be a representative present who will address Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) scholarship application procedures.
Individuals sitting on Senators or Congressmen's service academy advisory boards are always looking for leadership opportunties in candidate's records, such as the Boy Scouts. In 2014, 413 Eagle Scouts graduated from military academies. http://blog.scoutingmagazine.org/2014/07/03/413-eagle-scouts-graduated-military-academies-2014/
