Freemasonry is the world's oldest and largest fraternal organization. It is open to adult men of any color, any religion, nationality or social standing, the only requirement is a belief in a Supreme Being. Its body of knowledge and system of ethics are based on the belief that each man has a responsibility to improve himself while being devoted to his family, faith, country and fraternity. Freemasonry (often simplified to "Masonry") enhances and strengthens the character of the individual man by providing opportunities for fellowship, charity, education, and leadership based on the three ancient Masonic tenets: Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth. Learn more about Virginia Freemasonry by visiting the website of the Grand Lodge of Virginia at www.grandlodgeofvirginia.org.  Bremond Lodge No. 241, chartered in 1883, is the oldest fraternal organization in the City of Newport News. It is a constituent lodge of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Virginia headquartered in Richmond. Learn more at the lodge website located at www.bremond241.org.

Nansemond Chapter Order of the Arrow Beaver Day

The Nansemond chapter OA beaver day was a success even with the rain. We had over 70 OA and non OA members attend. We got the dining room chairs and tables pressure washed the kitchen cleaned the boats at Rivah Base pressure washed, and various tasks that ranger Joe assigned. This has been the best turn out on a beaver day yet. We encourage the other chapters to produce a better turn out so we can get prepared for conclave.

Advancement and Registration

Please be sure that you are turning in your Advancement Reports in a timely manner. It is suggested that your unit submit an Online Line Advancement Report at least once a month.  It is important that your reports are signed properly and have at least one e-mail contact listed. For Boy Scout Boards of Review, the advancement form http://www.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/34403.pdf can be used at your troop meeting, or the BOR report generated by Troopmaster can be used to obtain the required three signatures for each Boy Scout Rank advancement.  Either report will with the three signatures will be accepted as an attachment to your Internet Advancement Report. In this way, there is no delay in reporting or having to wait for your next troop meeting to obtain the required signatures. Even though there is only one line for signatures on the Eagle Scout Palm Application, three BOR members signatures rule applies to these applications as well. Unit leaders(SM) and assistants (ASM) shall not sit on unit Boards Of Review nor sign reports.

It is important that any additional applications accompany your Online Advancement Reports.  e.g. Application Forms that require verification of Merit Badges earned; applications that require Council Executive's signature -EAGLE SCOUT PALM APPLICATION:   www.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/58-709_wb.pdf or you can use the report generated by Troopmaster.

World Conservation Award Forms: http://www.scouting.org/filestore/cubscouts/pdf/512-036_WB.pdf; http://www.boyscouttrail.com/docs/formworldconservationboy.pdf   BS Form #21-156
