Nansemond Chapter Order of the Arrow Beaver Day

The Nansemond chapter OA beaver day was a success even with the rain. We had over 70 OA and non OA members attend. We got the dining room chairs and tables pressure washed the kitchen cleaned the boats at Rivah Base pressure washed, and various tasks that ranger Joe assigned. This has been the best turn out on a beaver day yet. We encourage the other chapters to produce a better turn out so we can get prepared for conclave.

Woodbadge Training

What is Wood Badge?

In 1911, Baden-Powell took the first steps in training Scouting's adult leaders by organizing a series of lectures for Scouters. He made great strides in the years that followed, culminating in 1919 with the establishment of Wood Badge training. Wood Badge recipients now number more than 100,000 and can be found in all corners of the world.

Advancement and Registration

All Advancement Reports MUST be turned into the Colonial Virginia Council at the Newport News Scout Shop even if you go to VA Beach or Richmond to purchase your awards.  Other councils cannot enter our advancements for us.  Turning them in elsewhere causes missing data and major delays in recording the scouts' records, especially when you are not using Internet Advancement Reporting.

The complete month/day/year must be used on the Advancement Report. MM/DD/YY.  The date to use is the day the advancement/award was earned. e.g - the date a merit badge was completed and the application- aka the blue card was signed by the Merit Badge Counselor;  the date the scout successfully completed his Board of Review for Boy Scout ranks.  This is the date that must be printed on their award card as well - aka wallet certificate. Do not use the date of your Pack Meeting, the date of your Court of Honor, the date you are entering it in your computer program, nor the date you are entering your Online Advancement Reporting.
