Vernon Parish Police Jury Begins to Deliver Trash Bins
LEESVILLE, La.-- Areas in the City of Leesville were the first to receive new trash cans last week as the Vernon Parish Police Jury and Progressive Waste Solutions begins to make collection a little more efficient throughout the entire parish. Delivery of the trash cans to each household began last week as a part of the solid waste collection program paid for by the parish-wide sales tax.

Residents on Belview Road, Country Club, and Martin Luther King Road areas were the first to receive the new trash cans, which are 96 gallons. Delivery to every household in the parish is expected to be completed within the next 3-4 weeks.

"The Vernon Parish Police Jury and Progressive Waste Solutions are pleased to offer this service to all residents of Vernon Parish, at no additional cost, to help make collection more convenient and efficient," said Police Jury President Jim Tuck.

Below are some important tips for ensuring trash pickup is as efficient as possible:
  • Carts are to be curbside by 4 a.m. or the night prior to scheduled day of collection
  • Carts should be placed no further than 3 feet from curb for collection
  • Point the arrow of the cart on lid toward the street
  • A minimum space of 12 inches is required on both sides of cart for auto arm to grab cart
  • Additional carts can be purchased at Progressive Waste Solutions for a cost of $70 plus tax and delivered within 7 days of purchase
  • Removal of bulk items, appliances, and furniture should be scheduled for pick up prior to normal day of service
  • Non collection reasons are as followed: too far from curbside; not close enough to curbside; blocked; trash on top of cart; overloaded cart
If you have questions or concerns, please call Progressive Waste Solutions at 337.535.9522.
