City of Leesville Hiring Cashier for Water Department

LEESVILLE, LA.-The City of Leesville is seeking to hire a full-time cashier in the water department at City Hall.

 

The position requires a high school education/GED or higher, with expected knowledge of basic mathematical skills. The applicant must have a general knowledge of computer software and office equipment such as Microsoft Word, Excel, calculator, fax, and copy machine.

 

Excellent customer service skills and a proficiency in basic mathematics are required. Good analytical, communication skills are also highly valued. A highly motivated applicant who is keen on details, is trustworthy and possesses a pleasing personality would be a strong candidate for this position.

 

The duties of this position require the cashier to interact with the public daily to receive customer payments for water bills, permits, taxes, occupational licenses, and other revenue. In addition, the cashier will take phone calls and need to be informed about city policies and current events in order to answer customer questions and direct customers to the appropriate departments. Excellent customer service skills and customer appreciation are required.

 

The cashier also prepares bills and gives accurate change and receipts, maintaining accurate records of all transactions taken in for the day. The cashier is the medium of communication between the customer and the billing clerk. Processing mail payments, in-office payments, and payments made in the night drop box are daily activities. At the end of each day, the cashier must balance the register drawer and make a deposit.

 

Work hours are Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The starting rate of pay for this position is $10.25 per hour.
