Grand Re-Opening of Leesville Golf Course Set for May 30

LEESVILLE, La--A grand re-opening for the City of Leesville Municipal Golf Course has been set for May 30 with a two-person scramble.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. with tee-off at 8 a.m. Pre-registration gets one free mulligan.

golf_balls_lined.jpgPre-registration is $30 per player, which includes entry to all events, nine holes of golf, a riding cart and the chance to win prizes for the longest drive, closest to the pin, hole-in-one shootout and straightest drive. To pre-register email Mike Carter, golf course manager, at mike.carter@leesvillela.gov or call 337-239-2526.

"We're also looking for vendors of all kinds to come out and join the fun," said Leesville Mayor Rick Allen. "Mike Carter, our new golf course manager, has been doing a great job with the greens, but he can't do it alone. This event will provide several different ways for people to help support the golf course."

Anyone can support the golf course by pre-registering for and attending the scramble. However, other ways to offer support include becoming a vendor for the event, donating funds, sponsoring a hole, or sponsoring a piece of equipment.  Click on the following links to access the appropriate vendor application: food truck; food booth; merchandise .

Vendors are encouraged to provide face painting, food, nonalcoholic drinks and merchandise during the grand re-opening. There is no vendor's fee, but an application is required. Click here to access the application.

"Right now we really need to revitalize the greens, and a few actually need to be replaced," said Carter. "Any and all proceeds will go toward doing that."

It costs approximately $5,000-$7,000 to replace one green, depending upon which green. Area merchants are encouraged to consider sponsoring a green. In addition, the golf course needs a new or gently used greens cutter, which costs approximately $10,000-$15,000. Recognition plaques will be erected for those donors who sponsor a particular green.

Merchants are also encouraged to donate money or items to be given away as prizes. Merchants will be recognized for their donations on the day of the event.  All donations are tax deductible with a receipt.

A golf clinic is also in the works to be included in the day's events. Golf attire is required: collared shirts and slacks or appropriate golf shorts. All participants must be at least 10 years of age. The golf course is located at 331 Country Club Road, Leesville.
