Mayor Rick Allen Proclaims April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Leesville

LEESVILLE, La-- Mayor Rick Allen proclaimed April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in the City of Leesville during an event Tuesday morning at City Hall.

Mayor Allen met with CASA of West Central Louisiana to sign the proclamation and to renew the City of Leesville's commitment to preventing child abuse. Beforehand, the groups planted pinwheels around the flag at City Hall.

Mayor Allen stated, "Our nation has a responsibility to build a safe and nurturing society so that our young people can realize their full potential. This proclamation is to renew our commitment to preventing child

abuse.

The event was part of the larger Pinwheels for Prevention campaign by Prevent Child Abuse Louisiana (PCAL) that has seen more than 4 million pinwheels distributed nationwide since 2008.
