Last year, Vernon Parish Relay for Life raised over $57,000. The goal for this year is $60,000 and the theme will be Totally Rad Relay For Life (80s Theme).
Relay for Life is a fun-filled family event that includes games, live music, and food. Shortly after the opening ceremony Survivors will make a survivor lap, and at 9 p.m. there will be a luminaria ceremony. That ceremony is a time to light a candle and remember the ones lost to cancer.

About Relay for Life Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's signature fundraising event, bringing communities together in hope, celebration and memory. It is a unique event that offers everyone in the community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. The overnight event remembers those who have lost the fight against cancer and honors those who have survived. Since 1985, Relay For Life events nationwide have raised more than $4 billion.
Because Relay For Life is a community event, everyone is encouraged to participate. Groups of people form a team from businesses, clubs, families, friends, hospitals, churches, schools and service organizations. These people share a common purpose - their support of the American Cancer Society's mission. During the event, team members take turns walking on the track and camping out overnight. Each participant is encouraged to raise at least $100 for the American Cancer Society. --end--
