LEESVILLE-The City of Leesville announced to its residents and businesses earlier this month through a letter the beginning of a 30-day educational period on Code regulations.
This period allows business owners and residents to become familiar with City codes. After the 30 day educational period, the enforcement period will begin, which will include working with business owners and residents to bring code issues into compliance.

Re: City of Leesville Zoning & Code Education Program
Dear Business Owner and Resident:
The City of Leesville is grateful you chose our City to live, work and invest in your future. Our City leadership is committed to improving the overall business environment, and generating a good working relationship with residents and property owners. We are taking this opportunity to educate business owners and residents on City regulations and hope we can work together to improve the City's curb appeal!
Glenn Ross at, "allBusiness.com," talks about the importance of curb appeal for a business; "Businesses need to create a warm inviting exterior that entices potential customers to enter. Having an uninviting exterior or poorly displayed merchandise in store windows is the same as a homeowner with weeds and trash in his front yard." Signs of clutter can be a hindrance to the overall effect on a potential customer.
The City of Leesville not only has zoning regulations specific to each district concerning what is allowed, but the City also regulates land use, structures, signs, drainage, unsafe structures, parking, parking lots, overgrown grass, walls, illegal dumping of trash and refuse, littering, junk cars, as well as keeping structures maintained and painted.
The Planning, Building and Code Enforcement sections of the City's website at http://leesvillela.gov/ contain useful information for business owners and residents. All of the City Codes and Ordinances can be viewed at http://library.municode.com/index.aspx?clientId=12459. You are encouraged to go and browse the website in order to become familiar with the various codes that may apply to your business or home.
Creating curb appeal and having regulations in place for commercial or residential property owners, increases property values, and encourages business and economic development! Please help the City of Leesville improve its curb appeal and let's all be part of Leesville's success!
This letter serves as the beginning of a 30 day educational period on Code regulations. This period allows business owners and residents to become familiar with City codes. After the 30 day educational period, the enforcement period will begin, which will include working with business owners and residents to bring code issues into compliance. If you have questions about the process, or the Leesville Code of Ordinances, please call Carter Maria Thompson, Planning Director at 337-353-7466 or Scott Grady, Code Enforcement Officer at 337-208-2198.
Sincerely,
Courtney Christian
