Committee Applications now being accepted

The Property Owners' Association is soliciting members in good standing who are willing to serve on the Common Property & Forest Committee,

a committee that advises on matters pertaining to common property, forestry and wildlife issues. It is charged in its deliberations to protect the general character, appearance and use of common property; and to protect and enhance property values. There are (2) positions available.

Members who are interested in serving on this committee may download an application at www.hsvpoa.org. Click here to download an application. Please turn in applications to the Assistant General Manager's Office. 

Membership updates hit limited capacities starting Monday, July 27

POA may not be able to process membership additions or updates starting Monday, July 27th and will have limited functionality through August 3rd.

Please be aware that this temporary service suspension impacts gate cards, ID cards and amenity passes. Members are kindly asked to conduct POA business before or after these dates.

Golf

Tee Times - Get a HEAD start!

 Total-E Conversions are quickly approaching, moving the HSVPOA into a better direction in the future with easier scheduling and many other capabilities.

Golfers be aware that Phase 3 is taking place on Monday, July 27th:

  • PHASE 3 - Monday, July 27
  • CURRENT dates remain open for edits and cancellation of tee times through 7/31.
  • Lottery runs at 3:30 p.m. for all dates 8/1 through 8/15.  Tee time confirmation emails will be sent immediately thereafter, however these tee times cannot be edited/cancelled at this time as all changes for August are frozen during this Blackout period.  Instructions for making changes to August tee times will be announced in a future eBlast message.
  • You may view your schedule under the REVIEW section of the Chelsea web portal. 
  • Blackout period begins for all future Lottery requests until Total-E Golf launches.
  • PHASE 4 - Thursday, July 30 - late afternoon
  • Access to the Chelsea web portal ends for all members

Anticipated launch date for the Total-e Golf web portal is Wednesday, August 5th.

Tennis

COURT TIME REQUESTS NOW 

We are finalizing the details of the transition period to the new tennis reservations system (Total-e). It will replace the Chelsea Web Portal the first week of August. Here is the schedule of events to assist you with your tennis reservations.

 

 Monday, July 27:
  • You will be able to change or cancel any of your court times if they are reserved for times through July 31.
  • If you need to change or cancel any of your reservations for court times between August 1 and August 15, please telephone the Tennis Pro Shop at 922-5054.
  • You may view your schedule under the REVIEW section of the Chelsea Web Portal. 

 Thursday, July 30 - late afternoon:

  • Access to the Chelsea Web Portal ends for all Members. If you need assistance with your reservations, please telephone the Tennis Pro Shop at 922-5054.

 August 3: Town Hall Meetings are tentatively scheduled for August 3 and August 4. Watch your email for exact days, times and locations.

 

Wednesday, August 5: This is the anticipated launch date for the Total-e Tennis Web Portal.

Registration extended until August 14th for Urban Deer Hunt : The 2015-2016 Urban Deer Hunt for Hot Springs Village, an archery only deer hunt begins on September 1, 2015 and continue through February 28, 2016. The hunt will be regulated by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) and all rules will be enforced under AGFC guidelines during the hunt.


Registration has been extended until August 14th and all hunters planning to participate in the hunt must attend a mandatory Orientation Meeting set for August 15th in Hot Springs Village at the Ponce de Leon Center, Ouachita Room, 1104 Desoto Blvd. The Arkansas Bowhunter's Association (ABA) will handle the registration.  ACC Committee: ACC met on July 16, 2015 and approved 1 new home permit, making a total of 43 new home permits for 2015. 

 

Registration open for 2015 Citizens Police Academy: Don't delay, get signed up today for the next Citizens Police Academy, beginning August 4th.  The Academy will be an 8 week program meeting every Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Coronado Center, 150 Ponderosa Lane. pills3.jpg Drug Take-Back Box: The Drug Take-Back Box is available at the Police Department Dispatch Lobby at 113 Calella Road. This box is for prescription pills and tablets only, and it can be utilized 24 hours a day.


No over the counter medications, liquids or sharps are to be disposed of in the box. In order to maintain confidentially and prevent identity theft, it is strongly recommended that the prescription medications be removed from their container and securely placed in a zip lock bag prior to depositing in the drop box. 


 

Members Sign Up for Code Red: Hot Springs Village members with landlines and commercial business lines are automatically included in the Code Red System, a communications tool used to send emergency notices to residents and businesses located within the Village.

The system has the ability to call residents in a specific area of the Village and alert them to an emergency such as a missing person or water main break, etc. Additionally, the system has an "all-call" feature that will send a call to all residents in the system.

To add cell phone numbers or additional phone numbers, go to www.hsvpoa.org and click on Emergency Notification Signup, which is located on the right side of the home page under key links. If you do not have computer access, forms are available at the HSV Administration Building, Coronado Community Center and the Police Department.

Residents may also tune into KVRE 92.9 for up to date emergency information. In the event that KVRE is off the air, limited communications will be submitted to 101.9 KLXQ in Hot Springs.

Fire Department

Adopt a Hydrant: "Adopt a Hydrant", is back again sponsored by the Hot Springs Village Fire Department. If there is a hydrant that you have had your eye on that needs a new coat of paint and you want to adopt it, contact Jason Miller at [email protected].

 

Custom paint any red hydrant not already custom painted as those are available.  Please send pictures to enter into the custom paint contest.  Winners will be announced in late August with particpants being qualified for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.  All fire stations will have red spray paint available for anyone in need of paint. 

 

Public Works

Public Works Advisory:  The Call Center has added a new feature that is now available to members of Hot Springs Village. Choose Option 3 will provide Public Works related messages for members. Road closures, Smoke Testing and Detours are just a few examples of what will be updated daily on Choose Option 3.The Call Center is staffed during the hours of 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. You can access this new service by calling 501-922-5556, and selecting 3 when prompted.

 

blue_car_road.jpg Street Closure: Beginning Monday July 27th, Murillo Way Between Fineza Way and Rollo Lane will be closed due to a culvert failure.

 

Levantino Drive: Levantino Drive remains closed between Fletante Way and Buque Way/Tiburon Way due to failure of a culvert. The flooded culvert will need to be isolated from Lake Balboa before the repair can be made. Repairs are expected to be completed in August.

 

Smoke Testing: Smoke testing of the sanitary sewer system has started.  The areas being tested will be posted daily through the Call Center between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m, just call and press option #3 to get the Public Works Advisory message.  The "smoke" is zinc oxide and is non-toxic, and leaves no visible residue. Smoke will not enter your home, unless you have defective plumbing or dried up drain traps.  Members affected by the smoke test are encouraged to pour water into sink drains, tubs and toilets to fill the trap.

  

Streets Division: Sabadell Lane is closed to through traffic, until further notice, due to a culvert failure.

 

Please observe all signs and use caution when approaching work areas.    

Recreation

 

Waypoint at Desoto Marina:

Waypoint at Desoto Marina is open and ready for business.  The project is complete and now members have the luxury of enjoying a fun and functional space, which will soon be featuring a local food vendor to provide limited food items prepared and cooked fresh. The beverage selections feature, Red Light Roastery Coffee, a local favorite with a great flavor, gatorade, soft drinks and smoothies. All lake amenities are available, including gas, bait and tackle, boat slip rental and convenience items.  The t-shirts just came in for this new location and are available for $16.

"The community has been overwhelmingly supportive. Since opening day,locals, guests and business people have been stopping by to take a look and try a refreshing smoothie at the caf�.", says Stephanie Heffer, Director of Lifestyle and Community Development 

This location is also the home of BaseCamp, headquarters for outdoor adventure, proud to be renting canoes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, versa boards and motor boats.  It also serves as a hot spot for referrals of all types of guided adventure tours and services. 

Recent renovations involved in this project included: replacing all the plumbing, electrical and HVAC. The installation of a new roof and refinishing all interior and exterior spaces has provided a brand new look.  The deck boasts a 2200 square foot addition.

10mph speed limit on Balboa Beach Area

Members and their guests are requested to help keep Balboa Beach safe. During these hot days of summer, Balboa Beach area is a popular destination for family outings. Children are running and playing in the area and drivers should take extra precautions. Please obey the posted 10 mph speed limit.

Your responsibility in obeying the law helps keep our Village safe.

 

Get into Character at SPEAKeasily Dinner Theater: Relive Hot Springs' gangster era and dine with notorious criminals at SPEAKeasily on August 13 through 15. Just Plain Vic invites you to the Crystal Mine Club and Alibi Gambling Room Grand Opening Gala, also known as the Coronado Community Center.

 

Join the Hot Springs Village Players, Hot Springs Village Recreation and Boomers Rock for the summer event of the year as they present SPEAKeasily, an original dinner theater production written by Jerry Davis and Mary Lou Moran, both Hot Springs Village residents. Tickets are available online at HSVTicketSales.com.

 

Gala guests are encouraged, but not required, to come dressed in costume as a 1920s and 1930s celebrity, politician, cop or gangster. Hot Springs was a haven for gangsters in the 1930s, and attracted infamous characters like Owney "The Killer" Madden, Al Capone, Frank Costello, Bugs Moran and Lucky Luciano and other mobsters. So there is no telling who may drop in for dinner!

 

'Club Seating' is $40 and includes Al Capone Roast (flank steak stuffed with mushrooms, olives, pepperoni, prosciutto, and mozzarella cheese) and Chicken Mascarpone with smashed red potatoes and Italian vegetables followed by coconut cream pie.

 

The event begins with "gambling" at 5 p.m. followed by dinner and the show at 6:30 p.m. A full-service cash "milk" bar will be available all evening.

Share Your Favorite Recipe: Last call for Library Cookbook recipes! Recipes for the Coronado Community Library cookbook fundraiser must be received by Friday, July 24, to be included. Please contribute your favorite recipe and help the library raise funds for future projects. Recipes received after July 24 will be included in the cookbook on a space-available basis. Recipes can be mailed, dropped off at the Library  at 150 Ponderosa Lane or emailed to [email protected]. The Literary Festival is to be held on Sunday, Oct 11, and orders for the cookbook will be taken at this time. 

 

Green Market: The Green Market is held on Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 pm at Grove Park located at 1105 DeSoto Boulevard. Local farmers and artisans offer vegetables, home-baked goods, meat, eggs, fruits, soup mixes, handcrafted items and more.  Be sure to pick up a reusable Green Market shopping bag for $5.00. 

 An additional day (usually Tuesdays) may be added later as crops ripen, providing an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables. Watch for notices of the extended hours.

 

Boat Slip Rentals: Covered boat slips are available for rent at Lake Coronado and uncovered slips at Lake DeSoto Marina for six-month and annual leases.
