participating in the RI Chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association 16th Annual Race Walk & Roll at Goddard Park; by late afternoon we headed to the WPRO Studio in East Providence for an interview by Patricia Raskin, a nationally recognized multi-media radio talk show host and award winning producer. We spoke about accessibility and answered questions from listeners.  If you didn't get a chance to listen in, you will find the link to the program on our website.

As an attending sponsor at the Rhode Island Partnership for Home Care, held at the Crown Plaza, we spoke with many owners and operators of Home Care and Hospice agencies in the state. We want to thank Nicholas Oliver, Executive Director of the RIPHC for their continued support of our company!  You may have had an opportunity to visit with us at other locations around Rhode Island as we continue to support the many local rehabilitation conferences. If you know of a conference we should be attending, please call the office and let us know.

Stay tuned! As we head into fall, we look forward to sharing more about Home Healthsmith's activity and growth which includes introducing you to our new employee!

An Easier Trip to the Dentist!
Many people develop long-standing professional relationships with their healthcare providers. So most patients find it difficult to make a switch.
Many years ago, Dr. Philip Barr of 247 South Main St., Providence was a newly-minted dentist. Over the course of several decades he became a seasoned professional, building his practice. Individuals and families became long-standing patients.  Dr. Barr realized that some of his patients now have mobilitiy issues that prevent them from climbing the stairs to his 2nd floor practice. After hearing about Home Healthsmith on WPRO, Dr. Barr called us to do an assessment. Subsequently, he made the decision to have a stair lift installed, saying that "when I need it, it's there!"
On the day the keys were being turned over, a patient came out and saw the chairlift. Her mom had stopped coming to Dr. Barr because of difficulty climbing the stairs. She announced that she was "calling her mom right now to tell her that she can come back to Dr. Barr!"

Stairlifts - Frequently Asked Questions

If you are thinking about a stairlift, you may have some questions.

For many people making the decision to have a stairlift installed can be a daunting one.

How long does it take to install a Handicare stair lift?

A Handicare straight stair lift can usually be fully installed in as

little as 2 hours. Depending on the complexity of your staircase, a

curved stairlift may take approximately 4 to 6 hours.

Each month we will feature a commonly asked question. If you have further questions, Home Healthsmith will be happy to answer them all. Don't worry, it is unlikely you will be the first person to ask!

You can visit two locations to see a stairlift in action: by appointment at our offices at 207 High Point Avenue, Portsmouth, RI or Simpson's Pharmacy in Pawtucket, RI.

10 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, RI 02861
