Tips to Keep Your Home Safe for All
March 2014
|
|
Hello,
This month's featured products highlight how even the simplest modifications can have a huge effect on a person's quality of life. We recently completed a bathroom modification for a client who is dependent on a wheelchair and he reports that these changes have been very beneficial to his quality of life. The best part of the project is the fact that it was accomplished at very reasonable cost. More details are shown below.
There are many ways to make a home safer without spending thousands of dollars. Give us a call to discuss how we can help with yours.

Welcome Our New Technician, Kevin Gaumond
We would like to introduce Kevin Gaumond, who began working for us recently as a full time installation and service technician. He has worked with Bill on a part time basis since August.
Kevin decided to pursue his love of electronic troubleshooting and equipment maintenance by coming to work for Home Healthsmith after his start at Johnson & Wales University and his years working with Sodexo at Salve Regina. He is currently training with Bill to install and service our mobility accessibility systems and products.
Kevin lives in Portsmouth with his wife Alison and their son.

Simple Bathroom Modifications with Big Payoff
We recently modified a bathroom for a client who lived in a 1940's rental unit and consequently did not want to make any permanent changes. The client is disabled and could not take a shower because he was unable to transfer himself from his wheelchair into the tub.
Before & After
We removed the track and doors around the tub, cleaned up the glue, replaced the shower head with a hand held shower unit and installed a sliding, swivel shower chair.
The client is now enjoying the ease with which he is able to shower.
This illustration is just a sampling of the ways we can make every room in your home safer and more convenient for everyone living there. Call 401 293-0415 to learn more.

Brussels Sprouts? No Really!
by My Chef Lara
Poor Brussels Sprouts, they are so misunderstood.
Brussels Sprouts can be sweet, savory, crunchy, soft and delicious...it is all about how you prepare them. As you may have noted in my previous articles - I will eat any vegetable roasted, but there are so many ways to use the lowly Brussels sprout.
This month I am providing a hash recipe for you. The reason I love this recipe is because the corn bread is sweet and the sprouts are savory with a slight sweetness due to roasting.

Another Happy Home Healthsmith Customer
When my father needed a stairlift, we were lucky enough to find Bill and Linda Bohmbach's company, Home Healthsmith. Bill assessed my Dad's situation, made excellent recommendations and installed a stairlift that has given my Dad mobility and peace of mind to the entire family.
We particularly like that Home Healthsmith -- though they service all of Southern New England -- is a local company, based in Portsmouth, RI, because we know that if we need further help in making home modifications they are just minutes away.
Very satisfied,
Newport, RI
