Greetings!
This time of year you can feel pulled in too many directions. Classes become more rigorous, exams keep getting closer, and you have to make plans for what comes next - registering for classes, or looking for work. It can be overwhelming. Set aside chunks of time for specific tasks to make your responsibilities more manageable. If you're registering for next semester, contact the Advising Center. They want to help you plan your classes in the most efficient and pain-free way possible. If you're graduating and feeling the pressure to find work, contact the Career Development Center. They can help you with your resume, offer advice on interviews, and help you narrow down or expand your job searches. And for those of you graduating in May, I hope you'll be able to join us for the College of Business Graduation Reception and Recognition Ceremony on May 11th. Invitations will be sent to your permanent addresses later this week. Best of luck to you, and enjoy the fact that Spring has finally arrived! - Dean Flannery

Advising TipDear Advisor, I cannot believe this year is almost over! I heard I need to register for next fall soon and I don't know when I register or what classes to take. I also heard there is something I need to do with my laptop. I want to make sure I stay on the right track and don't take anything I don't need either. Help! Signed, Confused by Registration Dear Confused, Yes, Fall Registration is right around the corner and it is important to plan. Registration starts April 10. However, you need to check YOUR registration date by logging into e-Services under "Courses & Registration" and clicking on "registration window." Be sure to make sure you are in fall 2013 term so you get the correct date. We also suggest you "check holds" and take care of any issues before registration. When you are in e-Services, you can also access your Interactive DARS report under "check grades" to see your progress in general education and your major requirements. As you mentioned, the COB does have a laptop requirement. If you are going to take a class in the COB at the 200 level or above, you will need to complete a laptop program form at least 2 business days prior to your registration window opening. Most of all, meet with an advisor! If you are in your major, you should see your faculty advisor (name is listed on your DARS). If you are a Pre-COB student, you should see an advisor in the COB Advising Center. The Advising Center will be seeing students on a walk-in basis April 10-May 3 during most office hours. Here is a link to a Registration Check List, the laptop form and many other forms that may be helpful or necessary for registration: http://cob.mnsu.edu/advising/forms.html. Good luck!
