Greetings!

One of the things I'd like you to think about is the importance of a global education. Taking the time to study abroad during your college years really sets you apart from other students leaving similar programs. Yes, it will be amazing to travel to another country; you'll take lots of photographs and try new foods and meet new people. But you're also building up your resume for future employers. What does a study abroad experience add to your qualifications? It shows initiative to take your education further than the average student. It shows your ability to adapt to new situations and take on the challenges that go with learning about new cultures and languages.

Keep an eye on the Going Global section below. Right now there's an opportunity to travel to Belize over Spring Break, and in the coming weeks you'll see a new international city or business-related program featured. Keep your mind open to a different kind of learning experience that will help you build your resume, your experience and skills, your confidence, and your sense of adventure!

Seriously, they know what they're talking about.

In order to better answer registration questions, advisors in the College of Business Advising Center (MH 151) will see students on a walk-in basis to answer your registration questions. Students will sign in and see the first available advisor. Please come 1-3 days prior to your registration window opening.

Students with 60 or more credits should come see an advisor November 12-20.

Students with 59 or less credits should come see an advisor November 21-December 4.

To prepare for registration and meetings with advisors, we encourage you to follow these simple tips.

  • Look up your registration window under "courses & registration" on e-Services and register as soon as your window opens.
  • Check for any registration holds under "courses & registration" on e-Services and take care of holds before your window opens. Holds will prevent you from registering.

  • Review your Interactive Degree Audit Report (DARS) to see which courses you have completed and which courses in general education and your major you still need to complete. This can be found on e-Services under "check grades."
  • Review the class schedule and develop a list of classes you are interested in taking in the spring. Bring this list of classes and your DARS report with you when you meet with your advisor.
  • Meet with your advisor 1-3 days prior to your registration window opening.
  • After meeting with your advisor, review the class schedule and put courses in your cart.
  • Register as soon as your registration window opens.

Roommates (family, friends, pets):  My wife and I live in Woodberry and we will be having our first child in the coming days.**

What are your guilty pleasures (junk food/TV/etc.):  A Sunday afternoon Viking's game.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I always knew that I wanted to be successful in a business career somewhere, whether it would be in law, sales, marketing, etc. I also knew I wanted to get involved in education. I recall a TV show growing up where one of the characters was a university professor and I remember thinking that's what I wanted to be.

What was your major in undergrad?

Education - I started out in music education, but took a wide variety of classes. By the time I graduated and was entering general education, I realized that k-12 wasn't the right place for me. So, I ended up going in a different direction, bringing transferable skills and concepts from Education into marketing.

What were you doing before you came to Minnesota State University -Mankato?

I was running a consulting firm helping assist US businesses in their interactions with Chinese businesses. I was actually interviewed for this position in China, over Skype.

Why did you decide to pursue teaching?

I realized that I wanted to go into education as a child. However, I came to realize that it wasn't the right time. Coming back to it, things are falling into place. I am able to share the knowledge of past experience.
