Special Announcement Regarding the Andy Lopez March Planned for Tuesday, October 29, 2013

Many members of the SRJC community, as well as the community at large, have been deeply affected by the Andy Lopez tragedy. The College has a responsibility to serve our students and our educational mission, as well as to be an active member of the broader community in Sonoma County. Numerous student clubs and organizations are involved in sponsoring the demonstration on Tuesday, October 29th, which is a community event that can be powerfully healing and productive. The College plans on being conscientious and sensitive in our response. We want to guarantee both students' and the public's ability to use the campus as a forum to exercise their rights to assembly and free speech. These rights are subject to the time, place and manner guidelines established by the college. Every reasonable effort will be made to use college resources to support the demonstration's educational, social and cultural purposes. Demonstrations may be held in certain areas of the campus so long as they do not unreasonably disrupt the normal operation of the college or infringe on the rights of other members of the college community. These guidelines exist to serve and protect the health, welfare, and safety of all students, faculty, staff and guests, and the overall functioning of the College. Plans are currently underway to develop a forum for community dialogue on this issue.

Bear Fact
How do bears survive during hibernation?

hibernation bear

During the period of hibernation, grizzlies do not normally eat or drink, but they are adapted to survive through an elegant series of physiological changes . . . and by packing on the pounds prior to hibernation.
