Gratitude and Thanks to our Garden Team

A huge thank you goes to all the parents and grandparents who helped St. Michaels's Garden program run beautifully in the 2012/13 school year. A big shout out to our classroom garden parents who plan and run the lessons for the students in our outdoor classroom. Your dedication to collect supplies, dig, plant, paint, draw, cook, water and manage students several times a month is so very important to keep our garden growing. To the many volunteers who supported Earth Week, Grandparents Day, Lunchroom Food Festivals, all of you make this garden program an exceptional experience for the kids and the community. Lastly, thank you to the volunteers who help with the maintenance of the garden. There is an endless amount of weeding, cleaning, pruning, harvesting, watering and more watering that takes place. We are blessed to have a community who values our garden-based education! May your summer garden grow bountiful. We look forward to our Harvest Festival in September to kick off the 2013/2014 school year.

ECE News

What a FABULOUS year we have had in ECE!!  Our room parents, Katie Abbott and Cindy Martin, have worked tirelessly to ensure that every party, field trip, and event were the best.  Today was no exception.  Our Water Day and End of the Year Party were like the cherry on top!  What fun we had washing the bikes, running through the sprinkler beach ball, relaxing in the pools, playing in shaving cream, and sun bathing with our friends.  Then we made our own ice cream sundaes and were entertained by a wonderful magician.  WOW!!! It was the perfect ending to the perfect year!  Thank you to the party parents for planning this special day and making it all possible:  Bita Ryan, Anamarie Franc, Lily Hartnett, Sooji Cho, Jessica Biller, Lynette Scherer, and Jonathan Pierce.  Tomorrow we will celebrate our Pre-K Graduates at their graduation ceremony in the chapel.   We want to thank Mrs. McArdle for being our pianist and helping us with rehearsals.   Afterwards we will honor the graduates with a special graduation reception.  Thank you to the following people for planning this special celebration:  Katie Abbott, Cindy Martin, Laura Knox, Dyan Carey, Maral Hannenian, Lynette Scherer, and Jonathan Pierce.   We congratulate our newest Kindergarten students!   We hope you all were able to attend our Art Show and see the tropical rainforest created by the students.  A special thank you goes to Sophie Allaye-Chan's grandmother who donated many, many packages of Model Magic used to make the rainforest creatures.  Susan Johnson, another school grandmother, donated some cute little kitchen utensils for our dramatic play kitchen area.  We really appreciate ALL the kind donations throughout the year!  THANK YOU ALL!!!  May you all have safe traveling wherever you might go, and a very HAPPY SUMMER!!!   See you in September!

PARENTS CLUB NEWS

Whew! What a great year!   It feels like just yesterday that we were welcoming everyone back to school and laying out the year's events. Field trips, class parties, carnivals, student/ parent events, family events, lunchroom, and an amazing auction, in addition to homework, sports, music, etc. could not have happened without the tireless work that you,  the St. Michael's parent volunteers, do for us. We thank you for all of the talent, time, money and sweat you put into making everything at St. Michael's so special. You always stepped up and went beyond expectations. Enjoy your summer and get ready to be back at it next year!

Fondly,
Kelley Downey, Jessica Hawthorne, Lauren Simon and Melissa Richards
