This is a wonderful time of the year in Sacramento. The flowers are in full bloom and our thoughts turn to summer with a more relaxed schedule. Another event that takes place this time of the year is our annual Open House and Preschool Art Show, Thursday, May 23. We will come together as a community to enjoy all the hard work that the children have done throughout the school year. The Early Childhood Room and K-8 Classrooms will be opened for visits, 6:00-7:30PM. Come, see and affirm what your children have accomplished during the school year.

| Math Competition
On Saturday, April 27th, St. Michael's students participated in the 24th Annual Math Invitational hosted by Christian Brothers High School. Our teams of 5th, 6th and 7th grade mathletes competed against students from some twenty-five area schools. Our 5th grade students included Katelyn Jurschak, Lawrence Stevens and Hannah Malek. Garrett Frazier was our 5th grade alternate who came to every practice and arrived on the day of the competition to wish his team good luck. Our 6th grade team included David Jensen, Vincent Di Fiore and Mason Warren; and our 7th grade team included Nate Assavarungnirund, Lauren Allen, and Kendrick Lai. Eight out of the nine participants were commended for achieving the benchmark for mastery on what was described as an exceedingly more difficult test compared to last year. Thank you to all the participants and their families for their commitment to this event. It was a lot of fun preparing for and participating in the math competition. Congratulations!

School Uniform Reminder
Beginning September 2013 all uniforms will need to have the St. Michael's logo. This includes sweatshirts, blouses, polo shirts, and jumpers. True Grits will only be selling uniforms with this logo, and the uniform exchange will not include any uniforms that do not have it. This year was the grace period for wearing uniforms without a logo.

ECE News
What a beautiful Mother's Day Tea we had last week to honor all our wonderful ECE mothers! The children worked so hard to prepare a very special day filled with surprises and presents made with loving hands. We could not have done it without the help from the following people: Mrs. McArdle, who played the piano while we sang; Deb Fairbrook, who helped with place cards, party favors, and food preparation; the Pulliam and Knox families for the helium for our balloons and Chris Dariotis and M'Lissa Halimi who blew up all the balloons; Glenn Croy for setting up the room the night before; Debbie McCain from Total Beauty Experience who graciously donated the "goodies" for the moms; and last but not least, Katie Abbott and Cindy Martin for all the important emails regarding this very special day! We were honored to have Mrs. Heise attend, and it was fun to present her with a beautiful hat and flower pot to say thank you for being our Head of School. All the memories of this great day were captured in photographs taken by Chris Dariotis, and we are grateful to her for taking the time to help us out!
We want to thank Jack Biller for donating plastic tablecloths for art projects. We will be busy using them as we prepare for our Art Show and Open House on May 23. We hope to see you and your friends and family there!
