Your Support Improves Utah!

Many thanks to everyone who has already donated; your support goes a long way toward improving Utah communities. If we haven't yet received your gift, please take a moment now to support free humanities programming!

As Utah's only statewide humanities organization, we are all about bringing the humanities into your community. We hope that you've been affected by our programs and efforts. Here are just two of the 2014 programs your gift will support:

Muslim Journeys

Muslim Journeys Bookshelf is a collection of books, films, and other resources that introduces the American public to the complex history and culture of Muslims in the United States and around the world.

These discussions have the potential to improve communities by strengthening understanding among diverse groups. The program supports communities in asking honest questions, connecting as humans, and gaining appreciation for the Muslim culture and the Islamic religion.

We are working with seven partners in Utah to bring these important discussions to their communities:

- Brigham City Library
- Park City Library
- Salt Lake City Public Library
- Salt Lake County Library Services,
  (Viridian Events Center, Millcreek
   Community Library, West Valley Libary)
- Utah Education Network (UEN)
- Utah Cultural Celebration Center
- Utah Film Center

For more information on the entire collection, visit the Muslim Journeys portion of the NEH website.

Journey Stories
Journey Stories is a traveling exhibition created by the Smithsonian Institution.
The Utah Humanities Council will tour it to five sites from May 2014 through March 2015.

Journey stories are tales of how we and our ancestors came to America - and are a central element of our personal heritage. From Native Americans to new American citizens and regardless of our ethnic or racial background, everyone has a story to tell about migration and mobility.

At each exhibition stop, community history will be strengthened and preserved as many of the lesser-known Utah stories become part of the larger Journey Stories narrative. Visitors will be able to put their own journey story in both a local and national context.

Join us at these terrific locations for the Journey Stories exhibit along with local tie-ins and activities. Click here for Smithsonian information on the exhibition and visit our website for more local information.
