Dear friends,

Last week, the Interior Appropriations Subcommittee recommended a drastic 49% budget cut for the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), an agency that has already been reduc
ed by 19% since 2010. At current funding levels, the NEH costs each citizen barely more than the price of a postage stamp. These harsh cuts are significantly larger than those proposed for other federal programs. The full House Appropriations Committee will meet on July 31 to vote on this bill.

The
Utah Humanities Council, one of 56 state and territorial humanities councils, receives significant funding from NEH, and this cut would be devastating for our programs. You are receiving this message because you have a connection to UHC, and we need your help now.

Please click this link to urge your Congressional representative to contact his/her colleagues on the Appropriations Committee today and encourage them to oppose the steep cut to NEH funding.  Let your representative know that the work of the Utah Humanities Council is important to your community.
