Competitive Grants Competitive grants through the Utah Humanities Council provide financial support for organizations with outstanding projects in the humanities. Each grant project must include at least one live program in which the public is invited to discuss or otherwise engage with the humanities topics and themes raised as part of the project.
Grants are awarded at amounts up to $5,000 and support projects designed to increase public understanding and appreciation of the humanities. Projects must be centered in the humanities and involve humanities scholars. Click here for more information on competitive grants.
Research Fellowships for Scholars Two annual fellowships to humanities scholars are awarded in amounts up to $3,500. One fellowship supports a research project on a topic of national or international significance and one supports a research project in Utah studies. Research Fellowships are awarded to individuals who are actively involved in humanities teaching, research, and/or writing. Scholars may be independent or affiliated with a college or university. Applicants must demonstrate a solid grounding in at least one humanities discipline, preferably with an advanced degree. Click here for more information on fellowships for scholars.
Research Fellowships for StudentsUp to five fellowships of up to $2,000 each are awarded on a competitive basis to undergraduate or graduate students attending an accredited university or college in Utah. Student fellows conduct research in the humanities, including history, philosophy and ethics, literature, linguistics, languages, jurisprudence, cultural anthropology, archaeology, comparative religions, art history and/or criticism, folklore, or interdisciplinary scholarship in these areas.
