Text Us Your Thoughts on Housing!
Do you want to share your thoughts about housing in Greater Des Moines? All you have to do is send a text! The Polk County Housing Trust Fund has partnered with Textizen to offer a new way to take surveys through your mobile phone. Simply text your answer to the question "Do you pay too much for housing?" ("yes" or "no") to (515) 512-5033 and you'll receive a few more questions about housing in our area. The whole survey should take only 2-3 minutes!

Your responses will help us create Housing Tomorrow, the region's first plan for housing. Responses from this survey will help us identify what issues are the most important as we move forward with the plan. Give it a try and let us know what you think. We want to hear from you!

PCHTF to host more community outreach events
Join us at one of our upcoming events to share your thoughts about housing! It's crucial to the success of Housing Tomorrow that we hear from as many Central Iowans as we can - so we're coming to you at community events this fall. This week, we'll have a booth at two farmers markets, and later in the month, we will be hosting a series of events around town. Check out the Housing Tomorrow website at the link below to see when and where you can find us!

What Have We Learned So Far?
Eric Burmeister reflects on community engagement
Staff is deep into the community engagement work of Housing Tomorrow.  We have planned activities that appeal to whatever level of engagement residents might want - from simple preference voting for color pictures of housing types by putting marbles in Mason Jars to facilitated focus group discussions and multi-part electronic surveys.

Angie Dethlefs-Trettin Has the Floor
Foundations, funding and fishing with Community Foundation VP
If you spend any time with Angie Dethlefs-Trettin, you will quickly discover that early in her life she took to the world of community philanthropy like a fish to water.  Apropos because she loves fishing and can fillet a fish, thanks to her grandpa.  We talked about how she came to Des Moines, the investment made by The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines to support the first Regional Housing Strategy for our area, and her "aha-moment" related to housing.
