Main Street CRA Board Meeting - First Thursday of the month at 12 noon in City Hall


Recycle - Every Wednesday. Regular garbage pickup - Thursday or Friday (instead of Monday or Tuesday).


Historical Society - Every 3rd Monday at Noon. Meeting at the Depot Museum. The Museum is open Wed, Thurs, and Fri from 10 am to 3 pm.  Call (863) 453-3525 for more information.


TAG Studio - The Artists Group (T.A.G.) Studio, located in the Hotel Jacaranda, is open Tuesday - Friday from 10 am - 3 pm, and on Sunday from 11 am - 2 pm for viewing.  They also have classes in painting, clay, and jewelry.  Classes run from November - April.  For more information, please call (863) 784-7346. 


Avon Park Breakfast Rotary Club - Every Friday at 6:45 AM

Avon Park Library Free Film Series -

Children's movie every Saturday at 11 am with free popcorn and juice for children.

Matinee every Saturday at 2 pm showing popular new releases and some old favorites.

Story time for children ages 5 and under every Wednesday at 10 am.

Upcoming Events

New Business Opens
at 1000D West Main Street

Music Box Cafe Opens
at 150 East Main Street
Dom Calderone has opened the Music Box Cafe at the corner of Main Street and Delaney Avenue. The hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday through Saturday. They serve breakfast and lunch and also have live entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings. Call them at 863-657-2577 and stop in and visit them soon! 

5th Annual 
Harvest Festival
October 17th 
4:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The event will kick off with a Costume Parade at 3:45 pm. Twins and Jungle Friends will lead the parade down Main Street to Donaldson Park, where they will announce the costume contest winners, hand out prizes, and let the monkeys entertain you. At 4:00 pm, all games and activities will begin at the park.  At 7:00 pm, registration will start for the Glow in the Park Fun Run. Registration is $5 per person, and glow sticks will be provided on a first come basis. This is a family fun run, so it will not be timed but medals will be awarded to the first participants who cross the finish line.  Race starts at 8:00 pm. Also at 8:00 pm, local artists Blackbird Anthem will be performing live music until 9:00 pm. Contact the Chamber of Commerce at 863-453-3350 for more information.

First United Methodist Church of Avon Park
Harvest Dinner 
and Pie Auction
October 17th at 5:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall
Amish Chicken, Baked Potato, Squash, Cornbread Stuffing and more.  Dessert and Drink included. Tickets can be purchased in the Church Office, Monday thru Thursday from 9 a.m until noon. Price is $10 each.

Facade Grants 
Main Street CRA has funds available for fašade grants in the Main Street CRA District.  Business Grants are available for the improvement of storefronts.  Total allowable funds per business are 100% of costs up to a maximum of $2,500 per individual storefront.  Home Fašade Grants are available for the exterior improvements of homes.  Total allowable funds per home are 100% of costs up to a maximum of $1,000 per individual home inhabited by home owner.  Applications are based on appropriated funding designated for the CRA program and are on a first come first served basis.  Application submittal does not guarantee funding.  For a copy of the application, click on facadegrant.

It's Not Too Early to Sign Up 
for Your Space in
Christmas on the Mall
It's time to start thinking about how you want to decorate the Christmas tree representing your business! All trees must be between 7 feet and 8.5 feet tall and must be artificial.  They must be tastefully decorated and at the village site, completely decorated and ready for viewing, no later than 9 a.m. on November 29, 2015.  For a copy of the application, click on christmastree.  For more information, contact Annie Feeney at 440-4554.
