The Stars and Stripes Are Flying Again
On Monday, December 10, the American flag was raised on a pole beside the Chamber of Commerce building. In 1987, the pole was a gift from the Ladies Auxiliary and American Legion Post 69. It was damaged during Hurricane Charley and has stood empty all of these years. Charles Devlin, owner of Devtech Sales made a generous donation so the flag pole could be painted and the surrounding landscape updated. Dave Ailstock, owner of Eighteen East, bought a new flag for the pole, and Neil Kemmerline, from the City of Avon Park, worked to attach a new pulley rope as well as repair lighting for the flag to be flown at night. Thank you to all of the people involved in this worthy project. We really appreciate it! Preserving Old Glory
