Greetings!

May is Be Kind to Animals Month, though as far as we're concerned, any time's the right time to be kind to animals, but since we're celebrating ...

The foundation of any solid relationship is time spent together: whether you're canoodling on the couch or tip-toeing through the tourists. But here's another twist: tricks! Teaching your pet to sit and stay--or even to just stay off the counter--takes communication, patience and trust, which leads to big-time bonding!

Tricks of the Training Trade: Positive Reinforcement

The old wives were misinformed. You can teach an old dog new tricks, young ones too, and yes, even cats!

The secret lies in positive reinforcement, a method that is both effective and rewarding. All you need is a clicker, treats, and a little patience.

Positive reinforcement training not only enhances the bond between pet and owner, but it can minimize undesirable behaviors such as aggression, anxiety and even inappropriate elimination.
