Students Envision Shakespeare

This past Tuesday, found some of our students not learning Shakespeare in class, but performing a scene onstage as part of a new Yeshiva League competition called Envision Shakespeare, created by Rebecca Lopkin and our own Mrs. Edelman. Faculty adviser Dr. Master worked tirelessly (but happily) with actors Yoni Friedman, Steven Cohen, Shai Gutfreund, Meged Eisenberg and Coby Nerenberg, as well as director Simcha Lev Abrahams, to find the camaraderie, comedy and wit in Act 2, scene 5, of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Even the judges watching the scene could not contain their laughter as our actors performed the scene with merry abandon and creative physicality, worthy of the best. The students returned to school enriched not only by a day of performances and workshops, but by a new trophy awarded for "Most Creative Interpretation of the Scene."

Midnight Run
On Thursday evening March 19th, 12 juniors and seniors piled into two vans and headed to midtown Manhattan to deliver food, toiletries, clothing, and some smiles to the homeless population of New York City.  The trip was coordinated by Yosef Glatter ('15) and was supervised by Rabbi Steven Finkelstein and Rabbi Beni Krohn. Gearing up for Pesach
With Pesach coming up, many of our students are involved in their own Pesach preparations. Next week, students in many of our shiurim will begin delivering shiurim to their classmates on a variety of Pesach topics including Bedikat Chametz, Owning Stock in a Chametz Company, Kashering the Kitchen, The Mitzva of Eating the Korban Pesach and dozens of topics related to the Seder.
Rebbeim have spent time training the students in researching the various Gemarot, Rishonim, and Halachic Authorities using the Bar Ilan Responsa. Students will be expected to produce a source sheet and deliver a 15-20 minute shiur on their topics. Our Beit Midrash has been very busy lately with many of the sefarim off the shelves as the students immerse themselves in their research.
TABC Places 1st in Model Beit Din

TABC has once again emerged as the champions of the Lander College for Men's Model Beis Din competition.  TABC's well-prepared students, led by coach Rabbi Jachter (who serves as an active Dayan) and captain Shlomo Korsinsky '17, blew away the competition with their mastery of the relevant sources to help them respond to the issues with which they were challenged. Varsity Soccer Takes New Season by STORM!
The TABC Varsity Soccer team stormed into the new season with a perfect 3:0 record.   This year's team has a deep roster, with ten returning seniors being joined by a group of talented juniors.  The team began practicing in November, and this has paid off handsomely at the start of the season. Read full story here.
TABC Victorious in Chess
In the 2nd round of the chess season TABC defeated Kushner 12 games to 2 to bring its overall record to 23 and 5. Looking forward to the playoffs after Pesach. Thank you to Captain Moshe Pahmer for organizing the match.
Y8 Night In
This past Monday night, Rabbi Kahn's Y8 shiur enjoyed a special night after school at TABC.  After night seder, the students enjoyed dinner and a dvar Torah from Rabbi Kahn, followed by a series of activities.  The games were fun and intense with the freshmen taking on the sophomores for Y8 bragging rights.  The students enjoyed ultimate handball, basketball and soccer together.  In the end, everyone was a winner (but the sophomores have the bragging rights).
Alumnus Visit to Engineering Class
The 9th grade engineering classes were privileged to hear from Benjy Ratzersdorfer ('11) currently a junior at Rutgers Mechanical Engineering. He spoke in a friendly, interactively manner about campus life at RU for an Orthodox Jew and the rigorous demands of all engineering programs. Our students peppered him with questions concerning life after college - ie job prospects -  which he assured our budding engineers are wonderful.
Students Compete in A Capella Competition
Seven TABC boys participated in the V'ata Banim Shiru A Cappella competition raising money for the Koby Mandell Foundation.  The competition was held at the Rambam Mesitva in Lawrence on Wednesday evening, March 11.  The 4 competing teams (HANC, MTA, Rambam, and TABC) performed 2 songs each, followed by compliments and constructive criticism from the judges. TABC Tech-Storm is Here!
The TABC Tech-Storm is here! The technology based club had its first meeting this week with an amazing turn out. A group of 15 students came and are ready to try everything they can. Ken Harris, the club's supervisor and the head of the school's IT Department, had many ideas for the young, brilliant minds to try. Mr. Harris' ideas ranged from salvaging parts from old computers to create new computers to donate to those that need, to learning all different types of coding, and to assisting our faculty members with technological issues that could occur in their classrooms. Read full story here.
Rabbi Blau at the Orthodox Forum
This week, Rabbi Yaakov Blau represented TABC at the Orthodox Forum, a think-tank which meets yearly to discuss issues of concern to the Jewish community.  Forum participants include academicians, Roshei Yeshivot, Jewish educators and Jewish communal professionals. The papers presented in each year's Forum are later published in a book series. This year's Forum dealt with Neo-Chasidut.
TAPA
Before purim becomes a distant memory, we wanted to take the opportunity to thank several people for their help in making our Purim BREAK-FAST, and our Mishloach Manot to our teachers and staff so successful!

Our MANY sponsors (click here for full list) helped us give our staff a Mishloach Manot package that was appreciated by all.  We thank those who worked hard to pick out the items, put them together and distribute them to our staff.

Our purim BREAK-FAST was enjoyed by all those who joined us.  Thank you to Charlie Kleiner for working with EJ's Pizza to ensure that we had such an amazing meal!!!

Our student volunteers helped us set up for the evening and for that we are eternally grateful.  Thank you to Yitzchak Tollinsky, Daniel Zolty, Binyamin Pomeranz, Aaron Kurlantzick, Akiva Wieder, Aryah Berman, Yechiel Hyman, Yonatan Sragow, Shai Rosalimsky, Zachary Ottenstein, Meir Lightman, Aryeh Lejtman, Sam Schwartz, Avi Schmeltz and Meir Sommer -- each of you helped to make the evening a success. We know you had many other options to do with your day, so we really appreciate you spending the time with us.

There were so many parents who helped during and after the event and we appreciate all of your help.  From ensuring the supplies were out, to helping clean up the room, it could not have been done without you.

The event would not have been possible without the generous sponsorship of EJ'S Pizza.  Joel and his staff helped to provide us with a delicious hot meal that everyone enjoyed.  Next time you are in EJ's please take the time to thank him for a job well done.
