COLLEGE ACCEPTANCES

The time for college applications for the class of 2015 has mostly come to a close.  Over the next few weeks and months our seniors will be hearing from the 30+ colleges to which they applied.  Students have already been accepted to a number of state universities including Rutgers University, Binghamton University (SUNY), the University at Albany (SUNY), Stony Brook University (SUNY), the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and the University of Maryland.  We are proud to announce that 16 seniors were accepted to the University of Maryland, including their engineering division, their business division and the School of Arts and Science.  Two of the 16 were named College Park Scholars and seven were accepted into one of the Maryland Honors programs. We look forward to continued success for our students.

PARENTS OF SOPHOMORES GUIDANCE PROGRAM

The guidance program for parents of sophomore students will take place on Monday night, February 9th at 7:00 P.M.  The program will include presentations from Rabbi Steven Finkelstein (Director of Guidance), Rabbi Ezra Wiener (Mashgiach Ruchani), Dr. Michael Atlas (Director of Student Support Services), Dr. Garry R. Katz (Director of College Guidance) and a representative of Princeton Review who will discuss standardized testing and the new SATs.  Today we met with the 10th grade students to give them a preview of the program. We look forward to greeting all the parents of sophomores at the program.

DEADLINE FOR THE MARCH SAT Exam

The deadline for the March SAT is Friday, February 13th.  Because of the need for a Sabbath letter our students must register by mail for their first College Board test.  Forms are available in the College Guidance Office.

Mock Trial
Congratulations to our very hard-working Mock Trial Team who reached the Semi-Final level in the Bergen County competition.  The team (which was in a rebuilding phase this year and had only one 12th grade member) exceeded pre-season expectations by this achievement. They were led by their long-time coach Yigal Marcus, assisted by Ari Clark (both TABC alumni and former team members) and TABC Faculty member Manny Landau.  Building on this accomplishment, we look forward to even greater successes in the future.
Connecting with Alumni over Intersession
In Israel, our alumni gathered at the OU Center on  Erev Shabbat, January 17th to reconnect with their former classmates. Ariel Reiner gave a D'var Torah and delicious food was served.

In Florida, Rabbi Grossman spent the two Shabbatot of winter break by the home of two former TABC students in Miami Beach. Jonathan Gdanski and Aviel Rabb were so happy to introduce their families to Rabbi Grossman and reminisce about the fun times they spent at TABC and in his class so many years ago. Everyone really enjoyed themselves. A special bonus was that Aviel made a siyum of Shas while Rabbi Grossman was there.
Volleyball is HOT!
Under the direction of gym instructor Baruch Dagan, the hottest sport in TABC right now is volleyball! During almost every period of gym, the students organize games and have a lot of fun. We are looking forward to offically joining the Yeshiva Volleyball League next year!

Midnight Run
TABC is bringing students to NYC on March 18, working with Midnight Run, a volunteer organization dedicated to finding common ground between the housed and the homeless. We are looking for donations of coats, pants, socks, undergarments, shirts, shoes and gloves/hats (preferred sizes L/XL mens dark colored). Donations may be dropped off at 312 Churchill Road. Yosef Glatter or Meir Tolchin can be contacted at [email protected] with any questions. All donations are greatly appreciated. Tizku l'Mitzvot!
Mazal tov!
Mazal tov to Rabbi Sariel and Dr. Shoshi Malitzky on the birth of a baby girl. The baby was named during tefila in the TABC Beit Midrash on Thursday. Welcome Devora Basha to the TABC family!

Mazal tov to Guidance Intern Rabbi Ari Ackerman on his engagement to Daniella Kotowitz!
