2014 Edison Achievement Award Winner 

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX

 

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has been selected as one of two 201Edison Achievement Award Winners.  Elon Musk is the visionary behind some of the most game-changing companies in the world including PayPal, Tesla Motors and SpaceX. During his leadership at Tesla Motors, he has overseen product  development and design from the beginning, including the all-electric Tesla Roadster, Model S and Model X.   Elon is also the chief designer and CEO of SpaceX, overseeing the development of the Falcon family of rockets and Dragon spacecraft, for missions to Earth orbit and ultimately to other planets.

Teen & MakerBot make New Hand for Boy

 Born without fingers, nine-year-old Matthew can now high-five with the cool "Robohand" that teenager Mason Wilde created for him on a 2013 Edison Gold Award MakerBot® printer. Wilde printed the hand using MakerWare software at the Johnson County Library's maker space in Overland Park, Kansas. Wilde describes the process as Matthew demonstrates his new hand in this video.  Matthew's thoughts about the new technology: "It - is - the future."  More   

Lenovo buys Motorola Handset Division

  

Lenovo Group purchased the Motorola handset division from Google, Inc. for $2.91 billion in China's largest-ever technology transaction. The deal which dominated the news in the highly 

competitive U.S. handset market followed a second major announcement that Lenovo would also buy IBM's low-end server business for $2.3 billion. More

The Official Ballot of nominations for the 2014 Edison Awards has been sent to our distinguished panel of judges consisting of more than 3,000 senior business executives, academics and past Edison Award recipients. Voting ends on Sunday, February 9 at 11:59 PM PST.  Winners will be announced and celebrated at the Edison Awards Event in San Francisco on April 29-30.  
 
If you are a past Edison Awards winner and have not received the ballot, send an email to info@edisonawards.com  including the product for which you won an award, and the ballot will be emailed to you.
SoapTime, a 2013 Edison Bronze Award winner, will appear on the DIY Network's I Want That episode #412 on February 12 at 10:00PM EST.
