David O'Brien's New Book Has Nationwide Release Date    

David's new book, The Navigator's Compass, 101 Steps Toward Leadership Excellence will be available on-line and in bookstores nationwide on August 4th. The book transcends the traditional boundaries of personal and professional life to show that we are all leaders.  It provides proven processes and methodologies for helping leaders at all levels to expand their influence and impact. David O'Brien to Present "Building Emotional Intelligence in Leaders" Workshop

As part of David's ongoing partnership with the CT Association of Nonprofits, Center for Professional Development, he will be delivering his very popular Building Emotional Intelligence in Leaders workshop on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at CT Nonprofit's office in Hartford, CT. In this highly interactive, 3-hour workshop, participants are provided with the opportunity to evaluate their current level of EI competence while also exploring a wide range of techniques for increasing their leadership influence and impact. Additionally, all participants will receive a complimentary pre-release copy of David's new book. The 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. workshop is open to the public but registration is required. WorkChoice Solutions Expands Executive Conversation Series

Father's Day reminded me of the many lessons I learned from my dad, and my decision to dedicate my first book (The Navigator's Compass) to him was easy. Beyond being a terrific father, he was the most decent, patient and selfless person I have ever met. Although I've been fortunate to have many leadership heroes over my career, he remains at the top of the list. Everything he did was about allowing his moral compass to guide him. He was a Master Navigator for sure. He was also a deeply religious and principled man. He didn't say much but when he did, it was always kind, respectful and meaningful.    

Earlier in my career and shortly after my second promotion to the leadership ranks, I remember asking my dad about his leadership success formula. He had enjoyed a distinguished 40 year ...
