Dear Friends,

I hope this greeting finds you well and enjoying the sights and sounds of the new season. I am very happy to announce that my new e-book, The Navigator's Compass, 101 Steps Toward Leadership Excellence is now available. In continuing the tradition of The Navigator's Handbook, this latest book explores many of the common denominators of leadership excellence today while also offering a clear roadmap for expanding your leadership capacity both in and out of work.

I am also very happy to announce that 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the e-book will be donated to Foodshare, Connecticut's leading food bank dedicated to ending hunger. Please see more details below.

Best wishes for continued success on your leadership journey and thank you for supporting Foodshare.

Choose to Navigate,

Dave O'Brien

Feed Your Mind, Feed Your Neighbor

The Navigator's CompassIn the spirit of learning and giving, I am delighted to partner with Foodshare to offer my new e-book The Navigator's Compass to leaders like you. In addition to feeding your mind and expanding your thinking, this represents a wonderful opportunity to help feed our neighbors too. For every e-book sold, I will donate 100% of the proceeds to Foodshare to assist them in honoring their mission to end hunger in the Hartford area.

In 2012, Foodshare delivered more than 10,000,000 meals to neighbors who would have otherwise gone hungry. That included 19,296 turkeys at Thanksgiving as well as backpack meals, school breakfasts for low-income students and hundreds of truckloads of food delivered to shelters, community kitchens and food pantries throughout the greater Hartford area. Despite these extreme numbers and the efforts of over 3,700 volunteers, Foodshare was only able to meet 50% of the need for food within the greater Hartford area.

With your support, Foodshare can not only continue its great work but also reach more neighbors in need all while you expand your leadership capacity.  Foodshare remains one of only two human service charities in the greater Hartford area to be recognized with a 4-star rating by Charity Navigator - for the 5th consecutive year. - so you can rest assured that your contribution will be used as efficiently as possible - with 95% of all donations supporting their work to end hunger.

Featured Leadership Workshop:

Choose Your Attitude

Positive ThinkingResearch suggests that the average human being has somewhere between 35,000 and 50,000 thoughts each day. Every time one of these thoughts takes place, chemicals are produced in the brain that can trigger reactions felt throughout the body. As such, there is a strong correlation between what we think and how we feel, both physically and emotionally. At another important level, our thoughts and related self-talk define how we see the world around us and ultimately influence our actions and behavior. Not surprisingly, our mind-set has a significant impact on the choices we make relative to our attitude and related happiness. When we choose a positive mind-set, our performance and overall capacity to be successful on nearly every level improves. In this highly interactive workshop, participants explore a wide range of proven techniques for being able to harness the power of positive thinking both in and out of work. Additionally, the program provides a meaningful framework for self-reflection and exploration.

Thought To ConsiderLeadership Thought To Consider

"You can buy a person's time, you can buy a person's physical presence but you cannot buy enthusiasm, you cannot buy initiative; you cannot buy loyalty; you cannot buy devotion of hearts, minds and souls. You have to earn these things."  - Clarence Francis, Chairman - General Foods

Leadership Suggestion: Consider what this quote means in your world of work and in your role as a leader. Also try to uncover the leadership opportunity that it presents.
