"Part of the design of Accelerator is the sharing of best practices for hiring and developing employees. When applying these best practices, we've found that companies experience significant growth in both profits and employee morale."
- TRAVIS SNIDER

Small Business Accelerator
and instructor Travis Snider were featured in an article published by 425 Business Magazine in May. The article highlighted the growth and necessity of continuing education on a national and regional level. According to the article, Small Business Accelerator is a "bargain," stating that "the average cost  business coaching in Washington is nearly $400 an hour," while Small Business Accelerator "pencils out at $48 an hour."

According to Snider, participants are often referred by other business owners who have been through the program and have experienced the value from networking and the sharing of best practices. Companies are looking for ways to respond to changes in industry and technology. Most set goals to double their profits within 3-5 years and increase the value of their company.

"It takes a lot for business owners to give up time in their day, so we respect that time by focusing on what matters - the bottom line. As a result, business owners say they walk away feeling re-engaged in their business," says Snider.

Small Business Accelerator is for you if:
  • Your company is at least five years old
  • Your company has at least five employees
  • Your company generates $500,000 or more in annual sales
  • You are seeking practical solutions and profit ideas

Triumph for Training
By Kristine Moore
Director of Human Resources and Contracts
Triumph Structures - Everett

Triumph Structures is a manufacturing company primarily focused on the production of stringers, wing structures and machining of aluminum. We started working with Everett Community College in the fall of 2013 when we met with the Corporate Training Team to discuss the training programs that we could offer with the funding help of the Job Skills Program grant. EvCC was able to work with us to develop a customized training plan specific to our workforce needs, including hands-on experience at one of EvCC's precision machining labs.

Since 2014, our business has completed about 30 courses in topics that include, blueprint reading, shop math, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, milling and turning operations and quality control. The customized training in one of EvCC's offsite machining labs provided hands-on practice to gain real world experience. In addition, the Supervisor Team Lead and Next Level Leadership training for our executive team offered invaluable tools and strategies.

We are currently planning several additional training programs over the next year. In addition to economic benefits, our commitment to training our employees has both improved morale and communication, which has helped create a great working environment for both our new and veteran employees. We have a great partnership with EvCC, both for training and for recruiting our next generation of skilled employees.
