AMTEC opened to students for classes on September 22, and held a Grand Opening celebration for industry partners and the community on October 1, 2014.
Thank You to our Donors

In the six months since opening, the Advanced Manufacturing Training & Education Center (AMTEC) at Everett Community College has been the recipient of nearly $500,000 in materials and equipment from industry donors such as LMI Aerospace, Universal Aerospace Co, Inc.Toray Composites, Terex, HEXCEL, Electroimpact, Exotic Tool Welding, Triumph Group, and Dakota Creek Industries

"The equipment and materials provided by our corporate partners make it possible for the college to provide high cost, high demand industry training to our students," said John Bonner, Executive Director of Corporate & Continuing Education. "With generous partners like these, we will continue to equip and expand AMTEC to meet the needs of local employers by creating exciting career opportunities for our graduates."

Precision Machining, by the Numbers

The Precision Machining program has more than doubled since opening, with 3 shifts of up to 20 students each and expanding operations to include customized training for individual companies.

  • 96% of students completed the program
  • 90% of students are hired within 30 days of graduating
  • 95% of students are hired by Snohomish County companies
AMTEC Soars Past 6 Month Anniversary

Since opening in September, AMTEC has hit the ground running, facilitating industry collaboration and educational opportunities for Snohomish County.

Highlights include:
  • On track to train at least 1,000 college students in high demand jobs in aerospace and manufacturing fields
  • EvCC is working to expose K-12 students to STEM fields. AMTEC has aided in this effort by having over 1,200 regional elementary, middle and high school students through its doors for tours.
  • Partnering with WSU to train their engineering students in precision machining.
  • Undertaken several project-based, interdisciplinary teaching and learning opportunities including the design and manufacture of a UAV, Mars land rover, wind mill, rocket, and components of a race car.
"By bringing EvCC's manufacturing programs together in one facility, we have been able to provide all students with exposure to material processes including machining, welding, fabrication, composites technology and engineering technology," said Sheila Dunn, Associate Dean of Aerospace & Manufacturing Careers
.
An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), conceptualized, designed, built and implemented as part of an interdisciplinary project involving students from Engineering Technology, Composites, Precision Maching, and Welding & Fabrication programs.
