For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6, NASB)
Peace on Earth!  Christmas candlelight prayer circle at Lanna Theological Center

This world is in turmoil. It seems every time we turn on the television, open a newspaper, go online, we see and read of horrific events taking place at home and around the world: Paris, San Bernadino. It seems our very way of life is being threatened.

In the United States we are entering into a new round of political rhetoric as we gear up for the next presidential election. Who is the best person to lead our country for the next four years? Who best exemplifies who we are as a people, as a nation? Or perhaps we are trying to figure out WHO we are as a nation.

Turmoil, confusion seems to rule the day. How can we sing Peace on Earth, Goodwill to Man?

And then I am reminded of the words of the prophet Isaiah. Life was no less peaceful for Isaiah and Israel as it is for us today. And yet Isaiah took hope in the coming Prince of Peace.

We have that same hope, in the Child of Bethlehem, Jesus Christ. We can rejoice because the Prince of Peace has come, and is coming again! We know who we are as a people of God's kingdom. We can rest secure in the righteousness of His Kingdom and the sovereignty of His rule.

Because that Child has been given to us we can sing Peace on Earth, Goodwill towards Men.

May your Christmas season be one of Peace and Joy as you celebrate the birth of our Christ with your family and friends.

7 More for the Harvest Field.
Carmen Filbeck (LTC Director) presents a book on leadeship to LTC student Peace and 6 others who have completed their coursework.

The first week of December we completed the first trimester of the 2015-2016 school year at Lanna Theological Center. We ended our studies with a Christmas Party and celebration for 7 students who completed their course work and will be doing their three month internship.  Six of these young people are from another country. They will be going back to serve in difficult and extreme conditions.  Christians are not welcome in their country.

The 7th student is from Thailand.  His name is very appropriate for the task God has called him to do-- "Peace".   Peace has a special place in my heart.  His uncle was one of the early students in our leadership training program in the 1980s.  His mother attended one year before getting married, and I performed the wedding ceremony.  It is a joy and privilege to be training and working with multiple generations of the same family.

We are grateful for your continued support in helping prepare Christian leaders in Southeast Asia.  You may click here for a Print version of this newsletter.
