The Gout & Uric Acid Education Society (GUAES) is committed to raising public awareness about gout and arming health care professionals, like you, with resources to share with patients and the most up-to-date information about gout diagnosis and treatment.
Winter is here. While more research is needed, studies have shown the peak incidence of gout occurs when temperatures drop. Encourage your patients to take steps during the winter months to reduce their overall risk for gout. Exercising regularly and maintaining a healthy body weight can help patients manage their gout and can also significantly reduce their risk for other comorbid diseases.

Happy Holidays from the
Gout & Uric Acid Education Society

Gout is a disease of urate burden, resulting from years of hyperuricemia, in which patient's uric acid level is greater than 6.8 mg/dL. As part of the "Go For Six" campaign, GUAES continues to encourage you to remind your patients to get their uric acid level checked and aim for a target number of 6.0 mg/dL or below - even during the holiday season.
