January 2015 Newsletter

The Gout & Uric Acid Education Society is committed to raising public awareness about gout and arming health care professionals, like you, with resources to share with patients and the most up-to-date information about gout diagnosis and treatment.

As you may have seen in our previous newsletters, we have introduced a series of educational comics to help raise awareness about the severity of gout.

With Ben Franklin's birthday on January 17, we highlight the founding father and his struggle with gout.

On January 19, we celebrate the life and achievements of Martin Luther King, Jr., an influential American civil rights leader. Many people may not know that he reportedly suffered from gout.

While inspiring millions and leading the civil rights movement, Dr. King was dealing with a few risk factors for gout including his age, gender, ethnicity and being overweight.
