Roundtable Discussion on the Diagnosis & Management of Gout
Gout incidence is on the rise - but research continues to show it is inconsistently understood, diagnosed and treated by medical professionals. The Gout & Uric Acid Education Society took this as an opportunity to hold a roundtable at the conclusion of the AANP National Conference to discuss the inconsistencies and mismanagement of gout.
More and more medical professionals, across many fields of practice, will be exposed to patients who have gout. For this reason, GUAES invited medical professionals from a range of disciplines - including a primary care physician, an emergency room physician, a physicians assistant, a nurse practitioner and a podiatrist - to speak at the event to share their experiences with gout and form thoughts on how to better manage the disease.
The roundtable was a huge success, with many ideas and actionable items being discussed. A paper is currently being developed to synthesize this information. It will be made available in the coming months through GoutEducation.org.
