Gout is an extremely painful and chronic form of arthritis that affects more than 8.3 million Americans. Unfortunately, just 10 percent of gout sufferers receive needed, ongoing treatment. The Gout & Uric Acid Education Society -- a nonprofit group of health care professionals -- is committed to educating gout patients and their caregivers about the disease and its related health care consequences.

New Gout Education Kit

Gout is on the rise. Help us Take a Stand.
Gout incidence is on the rise, affecting 8.3 million Americans. Unfortunately, research has shown that only 10 percent of gout sufferers are getting needed, ongoing treatment.
The Gout & Uric Acid Education Society recently introduced a new online information kits for patients to help raise awareness about the disease and improve patient outcomes. The kit can be found online at GoutEducation.org.
The patient kit includes resources such as:
- Six educational videos featuring lifestyle, diet, and diagnosis and treatment perspectives from gout experts and insights from patients on their experiences with gout
- An updated patient brochure
- An infographic poster detailing gout facts, diagnosis and treatment options
- Six new downloadable fact sheets on topics such as:
- Frequently Asked Questions
- Living Healthy with Gout
- Medical Advice for Patients with Gout
- Gout Medication: Dos and Don'ts
- Talking with Your Doctor about Gout
- Who Gets Gout and Why
