Tech Tip
Detex Value Series exit devices incorporate the friendliest installation design. The troublesome paper template has been eliminated and installation requires the installer to simply drill several round holes.
One key to installing any exit device correctly is to take care in marking your holes prior to drilling. When using the paperless template to mark the door and frame you must hold the door firmly closed and mark the center of the round holes. Here is a helpful suggestion supplied to us by a veteran installer.
Marking the holes
When marking the center of the holes use a spring-loaded center punch. A spring-loaded punch is a great tool because it allows you to keep one hand free. You can hold the paperless template with one hand and press the punch with the other hand. Increase your accuracy of hitting the center of the hole by slipping a inch cork or rubber stopper over the tip of the punch.
We hope you find these suggestions helpful and allow you to make your next installation even more profitable. Email your installation suggestions to sales@detex.com, so we can share it with other installers.
