Stronger Than Ever

The ECL-230X-TDB is a heavy-duty, easy to install three-bolt multipoint lock whose construction takes panic hardware to a whole new level of toughness and eases your back-door security worries. It is designed with a larger deadbolt that goes deeper into the frame than other locks in the category. Connecting rods are solid steel, rather than the less reliable hollow rod/cable construction. Life safety and code compliant, the Detex ECL-230X-TDB serves as both panic hardware and a maximum-strength locking device.

ECL-230X-TDB with details

  • Top Deadbolt - approximately 1" wide by 1/2" thick deadbolt, the top bolt provides additional stability to the top corner of the door.
  • Side Deadbolt - 2 1/4" tall by 1/2" thick deadbolt with a 1" throw allows for " penetration into strike. With 1.6875 square inches of bolt engagement, the side deadbolt provides superior defense against pulling and prying on the side of the door.
  • Bottom bolt - 5/8" HEX bolt with 3/4" throw, engages the floor with 5/8" penetration provides superior defense against the "peeling up" of the bottom of the door.

Add suffix DX3 (ECL-230X-TDB-DX3) for 6 locking points for even stronger security. Combining the ECL-230X-TDB with Detex's DX Bolts provides an additional line of defense against break-ins via additional locking points. Even if the exterior door hinges are compromised the DX bolts keep the door locked and secure. These passive deadbolts are easy to install and offer another layer of attack resistance.

When installed on a 16 gauge door and frame, testing proved the ECL-230X-TDB-DX3 exceeded all expectations and showed that it can hold 16,000 pounds of pull force.

Other features and options that differentiate the ECL-230X-TDB from competitor products include:

  • Simple to install prevents problems and costly return visits
  • Bolts are designed for superior engagement and maximum strength
  • Low profile meets International Building Code (IBC) requirement allowing for 4" maximum projection off face of door.  Several older locks no longer meet IBC.  Authority enforcement is expected in many jurisdictions.  International Code Council - Section 1008.1.1.1
  • Photo luminescent sign absorbs light to then "glow in the dark" when lights are dimmed
  • Optional Inside Pull (IP) provides ideal grip handle to pull on while closing and throwing deadbolts
  • Optional DX3 bolts provide greater hinge side protection with more engagement, keeping the door locked, even if the hinge knuckles are cut off and removed.
  • Available with optional Interchangeable Core Cylinder, pre-installed - suffix IC7
  • Optional hardwired kit, powers up to 3 locks, specify: BE-961
  • Available for use outdoors/wet environments - ECL-230X-W-TDB

Tech Tip

The key rotation of rim cylinders is 360 degrees.  During installation of the cylinder, cutting the tailpiece and aligning the timing marks is critical for the device to work correctly.  If the device is unlocked, turn the key 360 degrees clockwise to extend the dead bolt and lock the door.  If the device is locked, turn the key 360 degrees counter clockwise to retract the dead bolt and unlock the door.

Optional Cover Lock

The cover lock is a screw type design and requires the key to be turned 8 times counterclockwise to disengage from the back plate. There are 10 different key numbers, make sure the key number on the bow of the key matches the key number on the face of the cover lock.
