Advantex Pull & Plate Trims

Assorted outside trims provide security for all types of installations. Built to be as durable as the panic devices, these heavy-duty trims will stand up to heavy use and abuse. The versatile design of the trims, combined with the device mounting plate, makes changing functions as simple as replacing the outside trim. This can easily be done without removing the exit device from the door. Detex uses the BHMA functions/descriptions for all trims.

Wide Stile Pulls & Plates

Tech Tip

Detex pull trims with 03 function / night latch, utilize a rim cylinder. As illustrated below, the rim cylinder tailpiece can be cut and assembled with the Detex trim or customer provided plate or escutcheon.  The cylinder bracket kit includes a spring loaded tailpiece that adjusts to the door thickness.  This prevents key bind, commonly associated when a typical rim cylinder is used as outside keyed access, with the tailpiece slightly too long.  The cylinder bracket kit cannot be used with just a rim cylinder, but requires a plate or escutcheon as shown in the illustration below. Because of the tailpiece assembly design, complete assembly and sizing of the tailpiece assembly can be accomplished prior to arriving at the installation.

When using the basic rim cylinder assembly, there are four components: the cylinder with an uncut tailpiece, two cylinder screws, a trim ring to go around the cylinder, and a plate to accept the two cylinder screws. To install the cylinder, the door must be present. Drill a hole on the cylinder side of the door to accept the cylinder (about 1 3/16 - 1 1/4"). On the opposite side of the door, drill a similar hole for the plate (size may vary), making sure there's a recess behind the lock. Mount cylinder using cylinder screw plate and two screws, sizing screws accordingly to accommodate door thickness. Based on lock manufacturer's instructions, trim the tailpiece to correct dimension.
